I knew I needed some help with the college application process for my son, because writing is difficult for him, and because trying to get him to do anything I want him to do can be a challenge. I looked for a college counselor who could hold his hand through the process and take over the nagging for me. What I got, however, was more than that. Dr. Hall did help motivate my son, pushed him to meet deadlines, and alleviated a lot of my stress. In addition, however, I got something much more valuable. She made sure that the process was about him. She helped him to write in his own voice, to produce a unique essay. She talked to him about career options and what he wanted from the college experience, to get a clear picture of which schools would be right for him. In the end, my son chose a top tier university that we never would have thought of putting on his list, and he absolutely loves it. It’s a perfect fit for him and he’s getting the education and experience that I dreamed of for him. He wouldn’t have even applied to that school if Dr. Hall hadn’t insisted that it was right for him. We are tremendously grateful for her insight, knowledge, and understanding throughout the entire college application process. Dr. Hall still checks in periodically to see how things are going, as she truly cares about helping students find their perfect school.
